What is the ruling on marrying a Muslim Shiite girl who does not hold many of the extremist Shiite beliefs, given that the questioner is Sunni?

It is not permissible to marry a Shiite woman if she believes in the distortion of the Quran, or the infallibility of her imams, or the excommunication of the Companions, or the veneration of graves. Such beliefs are contrary to the religion of Islam, and the marriage contract is invalid, based on the Almighty's saying: "And do not marry polytheistic women until they believe." However, if she does not hold these beliefs, or she has abandoned them and turned towards monotheism (Tawhid) and Sunnah, then it is permissible to marry her. Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah issued a fatwa against marrying a guardian's ward to a Rafidhi, but permitted marrying a Rafidhi woman if there is hope that she will repent; otherwise, refraining from marrying her is better.
