What is the ruling on textual conversations between young men and women? Is 'pure love' (al-hubb al-udhri) forbidden? Is it forbidden to think about a suitor who promised marriage? Is it permissible to speak with him to clarify the ruling on conversations between the sexes? And is she sinful if he loves her?

The temptation of men by women and women by men is great. Conversation between a man and a foreign woman is prohibited unless there is a need, and provided that Islamic guidelines are adhered to. What is called "chaste love" between a man and a foreign woman is forbidden. An emotional relationship between a man and a woman is not permissible except within the framework of marriage. If marriage is possible for those who love each other, it is a good thing, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Nothing better than marriage is seen for two who love each other." Repenting from conversing with the young man is good, and you are not held accountable for the thoughts that may occur to you as long as the hearts do not intend them.

And Allah knows best.
