Is it permissible for a Muslim to expel his twenty-year-old son from the home if he is disobedient and intentionally defies his father's commands, which are for the young man's own good?

The majority of scholars hold that the father is not obligated to financially support his adult son unless the son is incapacitated. However, the Hanbalis are of the view that support is obligatory as long as the son cannot find means to support himself, even if he is healthy. It is not permissible to expel a child from the home if it causes him harm or exposes him to corruption. However, it is permissible in cases of necessity if the benefit of expulsion outweighs the harm of his continued presence. The father is advised to guide his son and help him adhere to the Sharia, deal with him wisely by giving him space for independence, encourage him to make his own decisions in permissible matters, and frequently supplicate for his guidance.
