Is it permissible to buy copies of the Qur’an and consecrate them to a mosque with the intention that the reward be for the deceased?

The scholars have agreed that the deceased benefits from charity given on their behalf. This is based on the hadith (definition) of the man who asked the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, about giving charity on behalf of his mother who died suddenly, and the Prophet affirmed it for him. It is also based on Sa'd ibn 'Ubadah's question about giving charity on behalf of his mother. Furthermore, it is mentioned in the explanation of the hadith, "When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things," that the reward of supplication, charity, and paying off debts reaches the deceased.
