Is it permissible to recite from memory what one has memorized from the Mushaf without reviewing it from memory, and is the program of completing the recitation (every four days) considered a commitment to the Qur'an, or is reviewing it from memory essential to achieve the commitment mentioned in the hadith: "Commit yourselves to the Qur'an"?

We congratulate the questioner on memorizing the Book of Allah and for her diligence in reciting it, for this is a great blessing. Completing the recitation of the Qur'an from the Mushaf (physical copy) is considered a form of commitment to the Qur'an and persistent, repeated recitation of it. It is stated in Fayd al-Qadir by al-Manawi that "maintain the Qur'an" means to persevere in its repetition and study. Reading from the Mushaf is considered better by many scholars than reading from memory due to the accompanying presence of heart, humility, and the engagement of the sense of sight in worship. Some scholars, however, said that the matter varies according to individuals.
