What is the ruling on a father refusing to marry his son to the girl he desires due to a difference in age or beauty?

Obeying one's parents is obligatory, whereas marrying a specific woman is not. Jurists have explicitly stated the obligation to obey a father if he forbids his son from marrying a particular woman. However, if the son fears falling into sin with this woman, then averting harm takes precedence over obeying parents. If the parents insist on their refusal, then obedience to them becomes obligatory. And whoever gives up something for the sake of Allah, Allah will compensate him with something better.
