What is the ruling of Islam regarding imagining certain pleasures, such as women and girls, to relieve distress, while maintaining prayer and reciting the Quran?

It is not permissible for a Muslim to intentionally occupy his mind and thoughts with the charms of non-mahram women. However, if such thoughts cross his mind without dwelling on them, there is no sin upon him. Intentionally dwelling on these thoughts and enjoying them is not permissible. Some scholars have deemed it forbidden because it exposes the self to satanic incitements and invites the commission of forbidden acts; it is a means to haram. This is supported by the hadith: "No woman should describe another woman to her husband as if he were looking at her." A Muslim should occupy his time with the remembrance of Allah and reflection on His creations and what benefits him in this world and the Hereafter, and not let Satan toy with him.
