Is it permissible to wipe over transparent socks, or if one of them has a hole, or if they are of the transparent, patterned type?

Some scholars stipulate for wiping over thein (khuffs) that they must cover the obligatory part and be thick. However, the more accurate view is that this is not a condition, as there is no textual evidence for it. Nevertheless, it is preferable to remove transparent socks and wash the feet to avoid disagreement, acting upon the hadith (definition): "Leave that which makes you doubt for that which does not make you doubt."
