What is the ruling on praying on a prayer rug upon which the name of Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, is written?

It is not permissible to pray on a prayer rug that has the name of Allah written on it, for two reasons: The first is the desecration of the name of Allah by stepping on it and spreading it out. The second is to block the means leading to the innovation of believing there is virtue in praying on it.
