What is the ruling on a young man deceiving another young man by imitating a girl's voice over the phone for financial gain and exchanging words of love?

Deception is forbidden, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever deceives us is not of us, and scheming and deception are in the Fire." It is not permissible to deceive others, whether by phone or otherwise, for any purpose whatsoever. The prohibition intensifies if the intent is to seize their money or if it involves forbidden speech. The perpetrator must repent to Allah Almighty.
