The answer

The suitor is a stranger to the fiancée as long as the marriage contract has not been formalized. If the girl strives to convince her family to expedite her marriage, she has done what is required of her. If the suitor's mother insists on breaking off the engagement and he complies, then she (the fiancée) must be content with what Allah has decreed. She should not grieve or despair, for Allah Almighty may divert something she desires and replace it with something better, as He says: "But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah Knows, while you know not." [Al-Baqarah: 216]. The servant does not know the difference between what he was deprived of and what was stored for him, and he is prone to loving immediate gratification.
