Is it sufficient in the first Tashahhud to say, "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah," or is it obligatory to say, "O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad"? And is it permissible, after completing the Ibrahimiyyah prayers and the supplication in the last Tashahhud, to conclude the prayer by saying, "O Allah, send blessings upon our Master Muhammad and upon his family and companions, and grant them peace," and then perform the Taslim?

The first tashahhud (definition) (testification of faith) is limited to the recitation of the tashahhud only. Most scholars do not require supplicating for the Prophet (peace be upon him) in it. Supplicating for the Prophet (peace be upon him) is permissible after the supplication (du'a) and before the taslim (definition) (salutation of peace to end the prayer). It is known that what is reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him) is the tashahhud first, then supplicating for the Prophet (peace be upon him), then the du'a, and then the taslim.
