Jurists have defined zina (unlawful sexual intercourse) as a sexually mature, Muslim individual having intercourse with a human private part over which they have no ownership or شبهة (semblance of right), intentionally. Anything other than this, such as kissing and touching, are preludes to zina, for which the perpetrator is sinful and must repent. Whoever commits any of these acts during the daytime in Ramadan (definition) and ejaculates, must make up for that day (qada'), without requiring expiation (kaffara), according to the preferred view.
