Is it permissible for a husband to compel his wife to wear the niqab if his parents do not approve of it?

The husband must oblige his wife to wear the legal hijab (definition) and cover her face, because the evidence from the Quran and Sunnah (definition) requires women to cover their faces. Among this evidence is the saying of Allah the Almighty: (O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments) Al-Ahzab/59, and His saying: (And not expose their adornment except to their husbands) An-Nur/31. The face is the center of beauty and adornment. Therefore, he should not obey his parents in this matter, for there is no obedience to a created being in disobedience to the Creator. The Prophet has made him responsible for his family, saying: "A man is a guardian over his family and is responsible for his flock."
