The answer

If necessity dictates transferring or depositing funds in interest-based banks, there is no harm in that, due to Allah's saying: (And He has explained in detail to you what He has forbidden you, except that to which you are compelled). However, this must be without stipulating an interest. If interest is paid without stipulation, there is no harm in taking it and spending it on charitable projects, but it is not permissible to own it or benefit from it personally. If Islamic banks or other permissible methods are available, then it is not permissible to deal with interest-based banks, as the necessity would no longer exist.
