What are the conditions for zakat and the time for its payment?

Zakat is not obligatory unless the Zakatable wealth reaches the Nisaab and ownership is complete. The Hawl (a full year) is not a condition for all types of Zakatable wealth. The Hawl is a condition for the two currencies (gold and silver), livestock, and trade goods. As for crops and fruits, their Zakat is due at the time of harvest. For Rikaz (buried treasure), its Zakat is due at the time of its extraction, and its مقدار (amount) is one-fifth.
