Is it permissible to pray between the first Adhan and the second Adhan for the Friday prayer?

It is permissible to perform supererogatory prayers before the Friday prayer, whether they are from those with specific causes, such as Tahiyyat al-Masjid (greeting the mosque prayer), or they are absolute supererogatory prayers. As for the belief of some that there is a pre-Jumu'ah Sunnah (prophetic tradition) restricted to a specific number of rak'ahs, nothing authentic has been reported about that from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Some Hanafis, some Shafi'is, and Hanbalis have adopted this view, citing a very weak hadith. The correct view is that the majority of imams agree there is no time-bound, predetermined Sunnah before Jumu'ah, as there is no authentic evidence for it from the actions or sayings of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Some have used the hadith, "Between every two calls to prayer there is a prayer," as evidence. However, the first adhan (which is from the minarets) did not exist during the time of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him; rather, it was instituted by Uthman, may Allah be pleased with him. Performing prayer between the first and second adhans is permissible and good, but it is not a regular Sunnah. It is permissible to perform it and permissible to omit it, and omitting it may be better if the ignorant assume it is a regular Sunnah or obligatory.
