The answer

"Consecution is not a requirement for fasting the six days of Shawwal. It is permissible to fast them either separately or consecutively. However, it is better to hasten to do so, based on the Almighty's saying: 'So strive in all good,' and 'And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord,' and due to the pitfalls associated with delay. There is no harm in delaying them until the middle or end of the month. Imam Al-Nawawi mentioned that the Shafi'is recommend fasting them consecutively at the beginning of Shawwal, but if they are fasted separately or delayed, it is permissible, and there is no disagreement on this among them. Ahmad and Dawud also held this view."
