Is it permissible to generalize punishment to an entire class if one student commits a transgression and no one confesses?

Punishing the innocent is not permissible, as Allah Almighty says: "And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another." Therefore, the teacher must search for the one who erred and punish him appropriately, for punishing all students is wrong.
