Is the wisdom "Live each day as if it were your last" correct, and does Islam want us to spend our entire lives in glorification (tasbeeh) and seeking forgiveness (istighfar), neglecting matters of marriage and work, based on this wisdom?
Wisdom entails remembering death and preparing for it, as it motivates repentance and increasing acts of obedience, just as it was mentioned in the Hadith: "Frequently remember the Destroyer of Pleasures." Remembering it makes a person the most prudent and prepared before death descends. And whoever Allah honors with the remembrance of death will achieve accelerated repentance, contentment of heart, and vigor in worship. However, moderation is necessary; thoughts of death should not dominate the mind. Rather, one must combine work for this world and the Hereafter, as Allah Almighty said: "But seek, through that which Allah has given you, the home of the Hereafter; and [yet], do not forget your share of the world." For the Prophets and the Companions combined dawah (inviting to Islam), jihad, acts of worship, cultivating the earth, earning a living, and marriage.
