What is the Shar'i ruling regarding someone who was forced to choose between being subjected to sodomy in front of his family, or having his father subjected to it, or having his family killed, and he chose what he was too ashamed to mention?

If a Muslim is threatened with death or severe beating to commit indecency, he is not held accountable if he commits it, because accountability is lifted under duress, based on the Almighty's saying: ﴿Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capacity﴾, and the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: «Indeed, Allah has pardoned for my Ummah their mistakes, their forgetfulness, and what they are forced to do.»

However, if he is threatened with death or less to kill another, it is not permissible for him to do so. He must endure, even if it leads to his death. A Muslim must be wary of falling into the hands of the wicked, especially in these times when ignorance has become widespread, desires have proliferated, and sacred things have been violated. The most important weapon for a Muslim is to learn his religion, act upon it, and be truthful with Allah.
