The answer

From a شرعي (religious law) perspective, a woman is commanded to remain in her home because it is more protective of her chastity and dignity, and keeps her further away from exposure to causes of temptation, as Allah Almighty says: ﴿And abide in your houses and do not display yourselves as [was] the display of the former times of ignorance.﴾ [Al-Ahzab: 33]. This command includes all women, as Islamic law is replete with directives for women to stay in their homes and refrain from going out unless there is a necessity. Frequent going out for a woman usually does not keep her safe from falling into some prohibitions. Therefore, it is best for her not to go out except for a need for which she cannot find anyone to act on her behalf.
