What is the ruling on going to a شيخ (sheikh) to ask him about an unseen matter, and what is the ruling on a sheikh who answers about the unseen, and what is the ruling on asking someone else to perform Salatul-Istikhara (prayer for guidance), and should I proceed with travel after seeing three reassuring visions subsequent to Salatul-Istikhara?

The Sunnah dictates that a Muslim should perform the Istikhara prayer themselves. It is wrong and impermissible for the mother to go to a soothsayer, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) forbade consulting soothsayers and diviners. However, if the consultant is a person of knowledge, intellect, and experience, there is no objection to seeking their advice. We advise piety towards Allah and not traveling without the permission of one's parents, as stated in the Hadith: "Return to your parents and keep them good company," especially the mother. One can try to convince the mother and seek help from relatives, and it is recommended to perform the Istikhara prayer again.
