Is a mother's obedience obligatory if she orders one to stop memorizing the Holy Quran and postpone it?

Obeying parents is obligatory when their purpose is sound and there is no harm to the child. If they prevent their child from memorizing the Qur’an for a valid reason, such as their need for him, then their obedience is obligatory; otherwise, it is not. Similarly, they are not to be obeyed if they continuously prevent the performance of sunnah (definition) acts without a valid reason, or if they prevent the performance of obligatory acts. A child may travel for trade or similar purposes without the parents' permission, provided there is no harm to him in doing so.
