The question

The answer

It is not permissible for a female doctor to treat a man, except out of necessity, if the illness could lead to his demise, or the loss of one of his senses, or cause him severe pain, and there is no male doctor available to treat him, and the treatment cannot be delayed. Similarly, it is not permissible for a female doctor to be alone with a man in a room, unless the other doctor is not proficient in the treatment or the cost of his treatment is high.
