Is it permissible for a divorced mother to marry if that marriage would result in the her losing custody of her children?

If the custodial mother remarries, her right to custody is forfeited and transfers to the next eligible person, such as her mother. It is also ruled that custody ends after the age of discernment. Since this matter can lead to disputes, it is referred to the Sharia (definition) judge. The mother is advised to marry for her chastity, and the forfeiture of custody does not mean she is cut off from her children; rather, visitation and connection remain, and their duty to honor her is obligatory.
