Is the husband entitled to refuse the use of any birth control method and to abstain from marital relations, claiming he currently does not wish to have children, especially since the wife has requested her legitimate right?

It is permissible to postpone conception if both spouses agree to it, based on the statement of Ibn Qudamah: "He should not practice coitus interruptus with his free wife except with her permission... because she has a right to have children." One should seek a method that causes no harm, such as an "IUD," as it is better than pills. The husband is not to compel his wife to use a method that harms her. If the husband insists on refusing a particular method, she should seek another method and use it without informing him. The husband must also satisfy his wife's needs according to her requirements and his ability, even if he does not desire intercourse, in order to fulfill the purpose of marriage, which is mutual enjoyment.
