What is the ruling on breeding and selling snails?

It is permissible to raise and sell an animal if people benefit from it for purposes other than consumption, such as treatment or other permissible uses. However, if it is raised for consumption, its ruling depends on the ruling regarding eating this animal. Whoever permits its consumption also permits its raising, sale, and price, and whoever forbids it prohibits its sale and price merely for consumption.
