Is it permissible to pay zakat on wealth to my sick brother, who is suffering from a bad psychological and financial condition, so that he can treat himself and build a house for himself and his children, especially since one of his children works but his salary is insufficient?

It is permissible to give Zakat (definition) to a needy brother, and he is more deserving due to the Hadith (definition): "Charity given to a poor person is charity, while charity given to a relative is two-fold: charity and maintaining family ties." What was previously spent on him must not be discontinued with the intention of Zakat; otherwise, Zakat will not be accepted and will remain a liability, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, actions are by intentions, and every person will have what he intended."
