The martyrdom of a slain person cannot be definitively asserted except with a specific religious text. Thus, whoever is killed unjustly while defending their family, honor, property, or self, is a martyr, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Whoever is killed defending his property is a martyr, whoever is killed defending his religion is a martyr, whoever is killed defending his blood is a martyr, and whoever is killed defending his family is a martyr."
