What is the authenticity of the Hadith: "None of you should drink standing up, and whoever forgets, let him vomit"?

The hadith: "None of you should drink standing. If anyone forgets, let him vomit it out," is authentically reported in Sahih Muslim. Most scholars have concluded that the prohibition in it is for discouragement (tanzih), not outright prohibition (tahrim), and the fact that the Prophet, peace be upon him, drank while standing indicates permissibility. The command to vomit (istiqāʾ) is interpreted as a recommendation and a desirable act for one who has drunk standing, and not an obligation.
