Is it permissible to work in a cryptocurrency portfolio management in order to pay off a bank loan, knowing that working in currency trading (forex) is unlawful (haram)?

Working in forex trading is forbidden because it involves usury (riba). Similarly, working in any institution that deals with usury is forbidden, even if the work is in security or portfolio management, because it falls under the category of cooperation in sin and aggression, which Allah has prohibited in His saying: "And do not cooperate in sin and aggression" (Al-Ma'idah: 2). Financial need does not justify engaging in what is forbidden. And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out and provide for him from where he does not expect.
