How can one reconcile the Hadith: "Indeed, there are people in Medina who, no matter what journey you undertake or what you spend, they will be with you," with the Hadith: "Whoever is unable, then with his heart, and that is the weakest of faith"? And does the first Hadith mean that they share in the reward, but their reward is less than that of the Mujahideen?

The reward for a worker who is unable to perform an act of obedience is established if their intention and resolve to do the work were sincere, had they been able to. Equality in reward here could mean equality in the basic reward without multiplication, or with multiplication. Some scholars have held that the one who intends a good deed, for whom a single good deed is written, is someone who is capable of performing the action. However, the preponderant view is that whoever has a sincere intention and is then unable to perform the work, Allah grants them the full reward of the doer, multiplied, because reward is a bounty from Allah, the Generous, the Bestower. Multiplication beyond ten is according to the excellence of one's Islam, the sincerity of one's intention, and other factors.
