Is a person considered a hypocrite (murā’ī) if he recites a verse he has memorized to show someone who has not memorized it that he has indeed memorized it?

"Whoever seeks knowledge to compete with scholars, or to argue with the foolish, or to attract people's attention, Allah will admit him into the Fire." And if a person's intention is to be seen by people, then it is showing off (riya'). But if his intention is for encouragement, discussion, and the like, then it is not showing off. The general principle for acts of worship is to conceal them, but it is permissible to make them apparent for benefits such as setting an example for others to follow.
