What should a ritually impure person (junub) do who wishes to pray and finds water inside the mosque when the time for prayer has arrived?

The majority of scholars are of the opinion that a ritually impure person (junub) is forbidden from staying in the mosque, basing their argument on the Almighty's saying: "Nor as 'junub' (in a state of sexual impurity) unless passing through, until you have bathed." The Hanbalis, however, permit a junub to stay in the mosque if they perform ablution (wudu'), citing the actions of some Companions as their evidence. As for the Hanafis, they do not permit a junub to enter the mosque except by performing tayammum (definition) (dry ablution) if there is no other recourse, even if water is available inside the mosque.
