Is a man who loved a girl and she married someone else sinful if he supplicates to God to unite him with her lawfully, by her leaving her husband to marry him, without him seeking to cause separation between them? And what if he asked her to divorce her husband, who abuses her, and what would be the consequences for them if she agreed?

A man must sever his relationship with a married woman and stop supplicating for her, as it is impermissible for him to seek her divorce or incite her to it. This falls under the forbidden act of "takhbib" (inciting a woman against her husband), which the Prophet ﷺ prohibited. The Malikis have stipulated that the marriage of the inciter (mukhabib) to the woman he incited is void, and some of them consider her permanently forbidden to him. He must turn his heart away from what is impermissible for him and ask Allah to grant him a righteous wife. There is no woman so uniquely distinguished as to justify excessive attachment to her; the best of women are the most righteous and pious among them. As for the woman's problems with her husband, that is her private matter, and she should resort to the Sharia (definition) courts to remove any harm from her.
