What is the ruling on choosing and purchasing the sacrificial animal via electronic sales platforms? Is it permissible to send its value to be sacrificed in poor countries? And which is more优先 (preferable): donating its value to the poor or sacrificing it in Qatar with the help of itinerant butchers?

There is no objection to purchasing sacrificial animals (Uḍḥiya) online, relying on videos that show their condition and descriptions and guarantee their freedom from defects. Direct viewing is not a condition for the validity of the purchase, and relying on a description is permissible.

The Uḍḥiya is a confirmed Sunnah and not obligatory according to the majority of scholars. It is better than giving charity with its price, because the Prophet (peace be upon him) offered sacrifices, and so did the Caliphs after him, and due to the shedding of blood, which is the most beloved deed to Allah on the Day of Sacrifice.

Appointing an agent to buy and slaughter the Uḍḥiya in another country is permissible, and by doing so, the person fulfills the Sunnah, even though it is preferable for the sacrificer to witness their sacrifice, eat from it, and provide for their family.

One should strive to perform the ritual of Uḍḥiya in their own country as much as possible, but if that is not feasible, there is no harm in sending money for it to be sacrificed in another country.
