What is the authenticity of the Hadith: "There is no believer except that he has a sin he habitually commits from time to time, or a sin he persistently commits and does not abandon until he dies. However, the Muslim was created to be tried, repentant, and forgetful; if reminded, he remembers," and is it permissible for a man to use it as an excuse to look at the 'awrah (private parts) of women? And how can a wife advise her husband who does not accept advice and uses part of the Hadith as an excuse?

The aforementioned hadith (definition) was deemed Hasan (definition) (good) by Al-Haythami and Al-Iraqi, and Sahih (definition) (authentic) by Al-Albani, but one contemporary scholar declared it Da'if (weak). Citing this hadith to downplay the danger of sins is invalid; it is a trick of the self and a delusion from Satan, and a form of ignorance regarding Allah's right and feeling safe from His plan. Indeed, underestimating a sin is a grave error. Al-Fudayl ibn Iyad said: "To the extent that a sin becomes small in your eyes, it becomes great in the sight of Allah; and to the extent that it becomes great in your eyes, it becomes small in the sight of Allah." Moreover, this indicates heedlessness towards remembering death and fear of a bad ending. The husband should be advised gently and wisely, clarifying the danger of complacency regarding sins, and explaining that looking at women's awrah (private parts) is forbidden and corrupts the hearts.
