What is the ruling on reciting eight parts (juz’) of the Qur’an (from Surat al-Baqarah to al-An‘am) in an hour and a half, and repeating this four times to complete the entire Qur’an in five hours? Is it permissible to do so in Ramadan instead of a full recitation, and does one receive the same reward?

We congratulate you on your consistent recitation of the Quran. Whoever recites a single letter from it will receive one good deed, multiplied by ten. Repeating what you have memorized from Surat Al-Baqarah to Surat Al-An'am is not considered a true completion (khatmah) of the Quran; rather, the entire Mushaf (definition) must be completed. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade completing the Quran in less than three or seven nights. Reading a juz' (part) in 11 minutes is considered very fast, and it may lead to errors in pronunciation and prevent contemplation. The early generations (Salaf) forbade this. Rapid recitation (al-hadr) should not compromise proper Arabic grammatical inflection (i'rab) or the clear articulation of letters. Reading the Quran in a very short time makes it difficult to comprehend its meaning.
