How is the inheritance divided among the wife and the two brothers?

If the deceased leaves behind only a wife and two full brothers, the wife receives one-quarter as her obligatory share due to the absence of children, based on the Almighty's saying: "And for them is one-fourth of what you leave if you have no child." The remainder goes to the two full brothers by virtue of agnatic succession (ta'sib), based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Give the prescribed shares to those entitled to them; then whatever remains is for the closest male." Thus, the inheritance is divided into eight shares: the wife receives two shares, and each full brother receives three shares. It is advisable to refer inheritance matters to the Sharia courts for investigation and to ensure there are no other heirs, wills, debts, or other rights.
