The question

What is the authenticity of the Hadith: "The worst of your women are the mutabarrijat (those who display their adornment and beauty unlawfully) and the mutakhayyilat (those who walk with pride and conceit), and they are the hypocrites; none of them will enter Paradise except like the piebald crow"?

The answer

The which states that "The best of your women are the affectionate (al-wadud), the fertile (al-walud), the compliant (al-muwatiyah), and the sympathetic (al-muwasiyah), if they fear Allah. And the worst of your women are the mutabarrijat (those who display their adornments) and the mutakhayyalat (the arrogant and conceited), for they are the hypocrites. None of them shall enter Paradise except like the ghurab al-a'sam (a crow with a white wing or legs)" varies in authenticity among scholars. Some have deemed it weak, while Al-Albani authenticated it.

Al-Wadud refers to the woman who shows affection to her husband. Al-Walud means one who bears many children. Al-Muwatiyah al-Muwasiyah means one who is agreeable with her husband.

As for al-mutabarrijat, they are those who display their adornments to non- men. Al-mutakhayyalat are the conceited and arrogant.

The simile of their entry into Paradise being like the ghurab al-a'sam (a crow with white wings or legs) indicates the scarcity of those from this group who will enter Paradise.
