The answer

The root of righteousness is the righteousness of the heart. The uprightness of a servant's faith is not complete except through the uprightness of his heart. The cure for spiritual languor and afflictions begins with rectifying the heart and purifying it from its diseases, then striving against the self and Satan. There have been previous fatwas addressing the causes of hardening of the heart and its cure, the reality of a sound heart, ways to combat Satan, factors of spiritual languor and its cure, and strengthening faith and preserving guidance. There are also two treatises by Dr. Nasser Al-Omar and Sheikh Al-Munajjid that discuss spiritual languor, weakness of faith, and their remedies.
