What is the ruling on the marriage of a man and a woman after they committed zina (fornication/adultery) with each other, and a child was born three months after the marriage contract, knowing that the child resembles her father?

If a woman becomes pregnant through fornication, it is not permissible to contract marriage with her until she repents and gives birth to her child. This is the view of Malik and Ahmad. As for the Hanafis and Shafi'is, they permit contracting marriage with her and having intercourse with her if the fornication was committed by him. It is preferable to renew the marriage contract if possible.

Regarding the lineage of a child born out of wedlock, the majority of scholars hold that such a child is not attributed to the fornicator. However, some scholars, such as Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, are of the opinion that the fornicator may attribute the child to himself if the woman was not a "bed" (i.e., not married).
