The answer

Whoever is afflicted with whispers (waswas) must ignore them and not give in to them. Whatever overwhelms him, while he dislikes it, is forgiven, as Allah Almighty says: "So fear Allah as much as you are able." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was asked about the presence of whispers, and he said: "That is pure faith," meaning that disliking and hating these whispers is pure faith. Therefore, a Muslim must ignore whispers as much as he can, and he will not be held accountable for whatever overwhelms him.
