How can one deal with parents and siblings, and overcome feelings of injustice and estrangement resulting from the preferential treatment of sons over daughters in upbringing, while being careful not to be undutiful or sever ties of kinship?

Parents must be fair among their children, but injustice does not nullify their right to dutifulness and obedience. Therefore, it is obligatory for you to be dutiful to your parents and treat them kindly, and not to cut ties with them, for disobeying them is a grave sin, and being dutiful to them is among the best acts of worship. It is not permissible to cut ties with siblings without a legitimate reason, for cutting ties of kinship is a grave sin. One should beware of resentment, and forgiveness increases one's honor; it is a path to attaining Allah's forgiveness and pardon. Maintaining kinship ties is a cause for blessing in sustenance and lifespan.
