Is it true that the creed of Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi was Ash'ari (the Habashite sect)?

Some scholars have attributed Sultan Saladin Al-Ayyubi to the Ash'ari school of thought in creed, with the caveat that whoever adopts the Ash'ari creed may be a follower (muqallid) or deficient in ijtihad (definition) (independent reasoning). No one has attributed him to the false and misguided creed of the Habashis, which emerged in the last century and was confronted by scholars such as Al-Albani. Sheikh Ibn Baz issued a fatwa (definition) stating that the Habashi group is misguided and their leader deviant, and that it is obligatory to boycott them, denounce their false creed, and warn against them.
