Is it permissible for a female doctor to circumcise boys?

There is no religious impediment for female doctors to circumcise young boys before they reach the age of seven, which is the age at which they are commanded to pray. Ibn al-Mundhir related the consensus of the scholars on the permissibility of a woman washing (ghusl (definition)) a young boy, though they differed on specifying the age. Malik held that it is permissible for a boy of the aforementioned age, because he is not commanded to pray and has no 'awrah (private parts that must be covered). Others, however, specified the age as six years. Circumcision operations are usually performed in the first weeks of a boy's birth, and a boy has no 'awrah before the age of seven.
