The answer

A Muslim who believes in Allah and the Last Day has no excuse to contemplate suicide, for Allah is All-Compassionate, All-Merciful, and what He decrees is for a wisdom. Death is the beginning of an everlasting life in Paradise or Hell, and this world is a temporary abode of trial: "He who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed," and "Do people think that they will be left alone because they say, 'We believe,' and will not be tested?" One must be patient and seek reward, and read the biography of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the stories in the Quran to understand the true nature of this world—that it is a place of trials, and that the most severely tested people are the Prophets.
