The answer

The ruling on earning profit from websites depends on the permissibility of the content. There is no harm in providing free and non-free programs, provided that there is no assistance in hacking them and that they are free from violations. There is no objection to downloading free videos and games if they are free from violations, such as music and the unveiling of women. Other websites (sports, news, miscellaneous, technical) must adhere to Sharia guidelines, such as covering awrah (parts of the body that should be covered), seeking truthfulness, and not publishing indecencies. There is no harm in publishing topics taken from other websites, provided that the content is attributed to its source. If these Sharia guidelines are observed, then the profit is permissible; otherwise, violations must be removed.
