Is it permissible for a Muslim girl to practice sports and join a mixed-gender sports club with men?

Sports have health and psychological benefits. For a woman to be permitted to practice sports in Islam, certain Sharia (definition)-compliant conditions must be met: it must be away from the gaze of men, practiced in modest clothing that is neither short, transparent, nor tight, free from gambling and betting, and must not lead to hostility and animosity. Furthermore, it should not distract the woman from her religious and worldly duties, should not involve music, should not involve imitating disbelieving women in dress, hairstyle, or naming, and should not be a combat sport that involves striking the face or head or disbelieving rituals. It is preferable for a woman to practice sports at home, due to the potential harms that may result from practicing them outside the home, especially in schools and universities where these conditions cannot be met.
